Summer School – Human Sciences and Society

AIMS & SCOPES

In the fast-changing landscape of Humanities, it becomes increasingly urgent to be able to cross disciplinary boundaries and see cultural processes from different interchanging perspectives. The Summer School in Human Sciences offered by the University of Verona aims at fostering a multidisciplinary dialogue about the most pressing problems of our society in a culturally vibrant environment. Each year, the School is dedicated to a specific topic of key importance. The overall goal is to provide the students with the opportunity to examine and discuss this topic together from multiple disciplinary angles in order to appreciate its complexity and multifariousness.

One of the School’s distinctive features is the tight interplay between theoretical discussions and practical, on-site work. Typically, the program is divided into lectures and learning activities. In the first part of the program, professors of the Department of Human Sciences, as well as invited speakers, will present cutting-edge research on the topic. In the second part, students will team up to work on specific projects to be presented and discussed in plenary sessions.
