MASTER IN INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE AND MANAGEMENT
The One-Year Master’s program trains professionals to understand the inherent risks and benefits associated with pluralistic and multicultural contexts, so that they may competently identify, mediate and manage conflicts and realize the full potential for personal development and empowerment that such contexts provide.
In the face of globalization and the rise of multicultural societies, the need has arisen to train professionals with specific competencies to handle diverse contexts – social, educational, academic, business, cultural, health care, governmental, etc. – involving people from different linguistic, cultural and religious backgrounds.
Graduates will pursue careers as consultants or employees at private and public organizations with international contacts, staff and operations: in multinational companies, in organizations that employ foreign workers, in public administration, in non-profit and non-governmental organizations, and in educational institutions.
They will be able to serve as intercultural mediators in the fields of business, social work, education, and health care, and will also be able to work in organizational management as researchers and as experts of intercultural communication in mass media and social media.
Courses will be conducted via distance learning (e-learning) and optional via face-to-face meetings at sites relevant to the didactic content of individual lessons and modules according to the idea of “full immersion.”
The Master’s program is organized into four modules: three core modules for all students and one elective module with six possible areas of specialization. Module 1: Globalization, Migration and Crisis Management. Module 2: Intercultural Communication. Module 3: Intercultural Mediation and Intercultural Conflict Management.
Module 3. A: Education and Training. B: Business and International Relations. C: Intercultural Journalism, Mass Media and Social Media. D: Social Work and Health Care. E: Legal Mediation and Arbitration. F: Italian as a Second Language.
